We Never Use Lead Wicks!

Although you may see what looks like a metal core in some of our wicks, this is actually a zinc support stem. Zinc is a metal that burns lead-free, and this support stem keeps the wick from falling over when the candle burns. Many of our soy candles have a cotton or paper core, which ensures clean burning.

Burning Tips!

You've probably heard this before but please trim your wick to 1/4 inch before each lighting. It may seem silly, but it is really necessary to ensure a smoke-free burn. If you see a mushroom on your wick, this is a friendly reminder not only that your wick needs trimming, but also that you are burning a highly scented candle!
Keep the wax pool free of foreign objects, such as matches and wick trimmings. Make sure wick pieces do not fall in wax pool when trimming your wicks and be sure to straighten your wick so that when the wax hardens it is centered in the middle of your candle.
If burning one of our Grubby Cakes, give the pan a quarter turn and give them a little squeeze around the sides each time you extinguish them. This will also help them to burn evenly. (Always burn them in a pan.)
Extinguish your candle when it is within 1/2 inch of the bottom.
Place your candle in a draft-free area, to discourage dripping, smoking and to help it burn evenly. If you can see the flame flickering, you should move the candle to another location with less air movement.
To extinguish the flame, use a non-flammable object and dip the wick into the melt pool. Blowing out a candle encourages smoking and soot.
Never leave a burning candle unattended ... never forget a lit candle is fire.
Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Ensure that flammable materials are removed from the vicinity of the flame.
Always place your candle on a non-flammable surface, and never directly on furniture or appliances. Protect surfaces from potential staining from a colored candle and dripping wax by using an appropriate candleholder.
